Bolzano Traffic

The project "Bolzano Traffic" is a local initiative supported by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and aims to study novel solutions that are able to improve the way people and goods have access to the city of Bolzano. In particular, the target of the project is study and test methods and technologies that are able to address critical traffic peak situations, which are typical for an alpine city of Bolzano and typically take place in case of bad weather conditions or seasonal tourist travels from the surrounding valleys.

From a technical point of view, the project aims to implement an open and web-based ITS platorm, which is able to provide to local travellers, through availble information and communication technologies (ICT) and thanks to the several end-users connected devices which are nowadays availble on the market, real-time traffic information and short-term forecasts of the traffic conditions in the most critical access points of the city. The platform is destined in particular to local companies and organizations, which are not only in the conditions to have a direct benefit on their commercial activities, but also to distribute the novel real-time information to their specific customers through ad-hoc Business-to-Consumers (B2C) services.
